Reading your whole chart
Putting it together
5 min read
Go in order
You do not read a chart all at once. Go in this order and it starts to tell a story.
1. Start with your big three
Your Sun is who you are, your Moon is what you need, and your rising sign is how you come across. Together they are the quickest honest portrait of you.
2. Find your busy houses
Three or more planets in one house marks a big life theme. That house is where a lot of your energy goes, for better and worse.
3. Read empty houses through their rulers
Follow the sign to its planet, and the planet to its house. An empty house is never a blank, just a story told elsewhere in the chart.
4. Layer on what is visiting now
Transits show which houses are lit up this week, this month, this year. This is how a chart that never changes still feels different from one month to the next.
5. Ask when something feels loud
A strong feeling usually has a house behind it. Ask which one is active, and which planet is passing through. It will not explain everything, but it is often a good first guess.
Now try it on your own chart.
Find your rising sign and your Sun's house in ten seconds.
